Molly Davis, the libero for the Southeast volleyball team, has had many achievements in her time at Southeast-both athletic and academic.

Davis is the all-time leader for digs in Southeast volleyball at the Division I level and has already been named OVC Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. Her dream for the team has always been to win the OVC Tournament and get a berth into the NCAA Tournament. As of Sunday, the Redhawks are in sixth place in the OVC, which would barely qualify them for the OVC Tournament. Davis, a senior, is an experienced member of the team.

"I am vocal, energetic, and competitive," Davis said when describing herself as a player.

Davis has earned several awards for her academic achievements. In 2008, she was a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Third Team selection. In 2007 and 2008, Davis was an OVC Medal of Honor recipient and was on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll. On campus, she has been a Southeast Scholar Athlete in each of her three full years. She is also president of the Southeast Missouri State Student Athletic Advisory Council.

Davis sports a 4.0 GPA in the field of Sports Management.

"Sports Management gives me a great opportunity to stay in sports which is what I love;" said Davis.

Davis also had many accomplishments from her high school days. She graduated from Burris High School in Muncie, Indiana with a perfect 4.0 GPA, was in the National Honor Society, and was an academic all-state selection in 2005.

Her high school team won the volleyball state championship in 2004, and won their conference championship three times. In addition to volleyball, Davis lettered four years in basketball and track. In basketball she played guard and considered herself more of a passer than a shooter. In track she was a long distance runner. Surprisingly though, Davis would play golf over any other sport besides volleyball.

"I got some clubs for Christmas," Davis said. "I'm really bad but I love to play."

If anything is clear from her record, it is that Molly Davis is an impressive young woman with a future as bright as her personality.
