Those who get tired of the same old haunted house song and dance can get their Halloween kicks at the Cape Girardeau Zombie Crawl. It is on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

It will be starting at the Westfield Mall parking lot. Those participating are asked to come "prezombified," in full zombie makeup and costume.

The Zombie Crawl will begin at 6:30 p.m. and start its infection in the mall. Around 8 p.m., the zombie crowd will meet at the mall entrance to regroup. From there, they will head to Capaha Park. Then the zombie mass will hit the University and the surrounding areas and make its way downtown.

Thanks to Southeast freshman Katherine Reed, this has been made possible. It all started with an idea from her and her friends. They wanted to do a Zombie Crawl like the ones held in New York. "It was such an exciting idea, and I absolutely love zombies. I want to see the look on the bystanders' faces and to see if there are people willing to join us as we go. I want to know just how big we can make this."

Reed also asks that everyone bring extra zombie makeup and blood for others who want to get infected. She wants everyone to remember that there will be a lot of walking and it will probably be chilly, so wear decent shoes for walking in and a jacket for the cold.

"I am so excited to see the zombies," said Southeast freshman Rachel Weatherford. "It will be different from the usual thing."

For more information on the Zombie Crawl, contact Reed at kreedkat@hotmail.com, or (573) 857-8404 after 3 p.m.

Other activities that students can get involved in include a Halloween Science Night on Oct. 30, and a Haunted Downtown Walking tour on the 29-30. See the Arrow's coverage of the Haunted Downtown tour on page 1.
