Southeast Missouri State University's bi-monthly Bingo event has continued to draw an audience.
The event, sponsored by Campus Life and Event Services, is "just meant to be a fun, relaxing event," Joanna Shaver, the coordinator for Campus Programming, said.
This event consisted of more than 70 people that competed against one another in multiple games of Bingo. The incentive was strong to win with multiple prizes, such as bags of candy or CDs.
The Bingo event was open to all students, and has had several regular participants since its conception. "Some people come back over and over because they're determined to win at least once," Shaver said.
One of those "regulars" was the first winner of the night, senior Joy Onukogu, although she has won in the past. "I wasn't really expecting to win anything," she said. Onukogu choose a Michael Jackson CD as her prize.
The most recent event was directed by senior Whitney Hoffmann, who said she had been in charge multiple times before because Shaver was out on maternity leave. Hoffman was in charge of the volunteers who wanted to be callers, as well as giving out the prizes.
She also noticed the amount of participants during the event.
"This was a pretty good success. We had around 70 people, so that's always good. Anytime anybody shows up it is good because people are coming out just to enjoy themselves."
The next UC Bingo event will be on Nov. 19 at 9 p.m.
